The new online shop for Italian and Lincolshire foods in Lincoln.

Over the past 3 months I have been working on this e-commerce website. I have different and varied experiences every time I work on a website I have a different experience completely. I would put this down to the relationship between me and the client as they are all different.

A taste of Italy by Pompeo has been one of those projects that I can sincerely  say I am enjoying working on. Its still in the launching and beta stage but I can see very good potential in the project in a not so far future. The reason I say this is twofold.

1. Products Range and Quality  The products in this shop are genuine, authentic and very good quality. The stock Italian and Lincoln foods, wines, sausages, olive oil, juice, honey, antipasto’s, antipasti’s, ham,  cheese, hampers.
2. The owner – Mr. Pompeo Siracusa: A very cheerful persona, very knowledgeable about the products both from Italy and local Lincolnshire produce. The presentation in the main shop when you first walk in, blows you away. This is an ongoing project and is making me start learning Italian and specifically Italian foods so I can update and do the micro jobs of keeping the content up to date everytime we have new products. What a way to end the year.

Have been working on a website for a Driving School in Lincoln. I also had a personal interest in such a website as it has been a long time since I sat behind a wheel, and as I urgently need a driving license myself and to attend a driving class, this is an exiting project. They offer driving lessons for good, reasonable prices for people in Lincoln and in the whole of Lincolnshire. Understandably I know little about cars or the different types of licenses one can have and how to save on fuel when driving or just generally, what to pay attention to. Have finished the design and development for the Unity House – Montessori Kindergarten website. It has been a nice project to work on – another pre-school, kindergarten website by Safarista Design in Lincoln, UK. Tumanaupendo is an online shop for Kenyans who live abroad. We have designed and developed it, using Magento Commerce software. It is now up and running, anyone can by food or beverages and then send them to their family in Kenya. Another shop done! If you wish to visit the website go to http://tumanaupendo.com/.

Our new design has been showcased on CSSMania on the 11th of May. CSSMania is one of my personal favorite showcases of great design and CSS! The thing about CSSMania is, they not only accept interesting design samples, but only valid markup. Many showcases portals will accept you only on design basis or how fancy your buttons are, yet fail to check the validity of the HTML and CSS markup.

You may wonder, why we need to write valid code. It is not just for aesthetics, you will get better Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and better ranking in search results. Search engine bots like valid code and Google punishes websites full of invalid code.

It has been a busy week of work, and many projects finished, many still to go. Did a design for Lincoln Hack event, which will take place 18-19th of June, 2011. This is the design sample, but the website has a slightly different look, mainly white background. Personally, prefer the dark on, being a “hack” event after-all! So, all the programmers, steady your Laptops and MacBook Pros, get ready to program away in this unique event! First time in Lincoln! Organizers would be, of course, your very own iLinkoln!

Also, here you can see directly the website, sigh.. yes.. my beautiful dark brown is gone.. But oh well, this is life Lincoln Hack event!

Just finished off Bracebridge Heath Pre-School website. It was fun working in the medium I love the most – design and illustration. Also, it is still an ongoing project, as you can see, as I haven’t gotten all the content from the client! And only 3 pictures so far. Another project, all done proudly in HTML. Still wondering, when will people completely drop IE as I am just so tired trying to figure out everything for one problem browser.. Not too many IE users have updated to IE9, which I do highly recommend!!!

My client Direct Camping in Lincoln, UK offers holidays in France. They basically sell mobile home and super tent holidays for families, which are self-catering and for a very good price. You can see the new design on the left.

Each project has its own taste and feel. As does each subject. When people go on holidays, they prefer to buy from holiday companies, who use bright, happy colors. That is their first representation! Who would want to choose a holiday company who prefers their colors to be grey or dark blues.. Bright colors will tell them, they are to look forward to a bright sunny holiday, and that is all that everyone wants!

This is a free flyer layout file meant to be used for Baha’i pre-youth empowerment programs. You can download all the ai (Adobe Illustrator) files, where you can add your own text.
